rockstar
Jenna has been learning to play her new guitar. And it's not just any guitar, it's a red electric guitar. She wants to be a star just like Hannah Montana. So, here she is singing and playing!

Walking Baby
This proud mommy is pretty excited to announce these first steps! It has been a struggle for Brooklyn to get to this point. It's difficult to find your balance when your feet are as pigeon-toed as hers. But, she has mastered control over her feet so they don't cross in front of each other with every step, and she is finally taking a few steps at a time by herself. Go, baby!

Because we are generally BYU football fans, I must mention the Utah cheerleader dress she's wearing. We're celebrating the football team's ranking as #2. They deserve it.

Why are there so many chickens running loose in Kauai?
Hawaii was wonderful. Jeremy and I escaped from the cold to celebrate our 8th anniversary without the kids. We had a lot of fun. But, mostly it was just nice to be able to relax.
My amazing sister Laura flew in from Washington DC to take on three kids and a dog for the week (with a little help from friends and grandparents at both ends of the week, which means we never got to see her: so sad). They all survived, and we got a special surprise- Ethan could sound our words when we got home! Thanks, Laura.
Here are a few highlights from the trip:
Fern Grotto
This little hula dancer boy was so fun to watch.
At the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Samoan presentation featured a climb to the top of a coconut tree. I don't understand why they need this skill though, since they told us that the ripe coconuts fall to the ground. I guess they do it to collect the leaves.
Poi balls: much more fun than eating poi!
The view from our room. We left the windows open and listened to the waves as we fell asleep.
